How do I point my domain to my web host? (changing DNS)

Ok, so you’ve made the big change, and decided to dump your old hosting company, and move up
to a really GREAT hosting outfit!

Congratulations!

You’ve made the right choice. (Hopefully!)

Now, how do you modify your DNS record, so that the domain your new web host set up for you on their servers, will answer with your domain name?

It’s really not too difficult.

Thee following is no longer valid:

First of all, in order for you to do this yourself, you must be either the Administrative or Billing Contact
for the domain wherever you registered the domain name. If not, you’ll have to contact whoever IS the contact and get them to do it for you.

You just simply log in into your registrar’s Dashboard and change the DNS settings to that of your web host.
